667 Race and its impact on inpatient calciphylaxis outcomes

Within the past several years, critical race theory has received heightened attention from cultural, social, and political world. Similarly, medical community reevaluated many longstanding theories about associated risk factors for disease states as well correction calculations such eGFR. We sought to determine if there may be an inherent disparity in diagnosis, understanding, outcomes of it pertains calciphylaxis. In our retrospective cohort study, patients with biopsy proven calciphylaxis (n=26) admitted a VCU between 2010-2020 were analyzed multiple variables including known factors, comorbidities, demographics. From cohort, 18 black diagnosed compared 8 white patients. The mortality rate was 46%, consistent current literature. Stratified by race, 61% 12.5% With hemodialysis (HD) being factor calciphylaxis, observed that those on HD 53%.
